Edinburgh College of Art has an international reputation as one of the most successful independent art colleges in the UK. The College is known for its creativity, its co-operative atmosphere and its people; one recent graduate described the College as 'an ideas factory'.The atmosphere at the College is truly international. In the current year, 22% of our students are from over 70 countries. The rest of our students are from all over the British Isles. The international mix of students adds a valuable global dimension to our educational programmes, widening horizons and offering new perspectives to students and staff alike.

The University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh College of Art have agreed to form an academic federation to encourage cooperation and collaboration between the two institutions.
The University and Edinburgh College of Art have jointly offered an MA in Fine Art since 1946, have undertaken several joint research collaborations and are currently taking forward a project to create a jointly owned School of Architecture.
