Cost of studying abroad

Q1. How much does it cost to study in the UK?

A1. This will be different depending on what course you study, where you stay, and how long you study for. However, as a guide, your total costs for living and tuition could be around £20,000 per year for undergraduate or postgraduate study, and around £2,000 per month for language study. Q2.Can I visit schools before I study there?

A2. In some cases, yes. beo can arrange an inspection programme with staff in UK universities for you. Please contact a beo education counselor for advice.

Q3.What level of English do I need? What scores of TOEFL or IELTS do I need to get?

A3. Each university has different requirements. Please refer to beo's Study Levels page and check requirements with a beo counsellor.
As a guide: BTEC or Diploma course IELTS5.0
Foundation or pre-master's course IELTS4.5 - 5.0
Undergraduate or postgraduate course IELTS6.0 - 8.0

Studying abroad at postgraduate level

Q4.Is it possible to study at postgraduate level without a bachelor's degree?

A4.Yes, it is possible in some cases. Some MBA courses regard work experience highly and do not require a bachelor's degree.

Q5. Do I need work experience to study on a master's course?

A5. No. Most master's courses do not require work experience. However, if you have some experience, it can be advantageous to explain its value in your personal statement. (MBA, MA courses in education, and medical courses sometimes require work experience: please check with your beo counsellor.)

Q6. Is it possible to finish a pre-MBA course and an MBA course in 2 years?

A6. Yes, it is. There are a variety of pre-MBA courses, taking from 6 weeks to 1 year to complete. An MBA can usually be completed in 1 year. Depending on the combination you choose, you can finish both courses in less than 2 years.

Q7.Can I take a TESOL course even if I do not have teaching experience?

A7. Yes - at some universities. We recommend the University of Leeds [Link: UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS], which offers master's degrees for students without experience. The University of Edinburgh [Link: THE UNIVERSITY OF EDINBURGH] offers a pre-master's TESOL programme, too
