What is education?
Education degrees explore the theory and practice of teaching and learning at either a primary or secondary level. This can incorporate aspects of the psychology, philosophy and management involved, often alongside a specialist discipline of your choice such as english, mathematics, science, languages, etc.
After the completion of your undergraduate studies, many students progress to a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). Students must obtain a PGCE to formally practice teaching and gain Qualified Teacher Status within the UK. The course covers lesson planning, class management, curriculum design, and lesson delivery. It often also explores the role of education within society and the place of the teacher within the education system.
