What is Law?

Law is the study of criminal and civil legal systems.  You will study what constitutes criminal and civil law, find out about land, labour, Europe, human rights law, and media law. After learning the basics of each, you can specialise in areas including international, cyber and family law.

  • Many students study law purely for academic reasons and study law alongside politics, economics, history, or even a language. However, if you wish to become a solicitor or barrister you are also required to spend at least two years after graduation training and studying for your professional qualifications at a law firm.

  • In some instances, law can be a highly paid profession with starting salaries from £25,000 to over £100,000.
